Frozen Hope: Chapter 1Elsa felt an odd sense of relief when her father left the room.  She’d told him that she had been reading out loud from a favorite book.  Thankfully he didn’t question her explanation as to why he had supposedly heard her talking to herself.  As always, he seemed anxious to leave her room.  He tried not to make it look so obvious - being King meant that he had a lot of work to do – but she could tell that her presence scared him.  
Usually the reminder that her own parents were afraid to be around her intensified her feelings of despair and hatred for the powers that she had come to despise.  However, there was something else that intrigued her mind at the moment and she hurried back over to her window, where she hoped she would still find the presence she’d felt before.
“Hello?” her voice whispered for fear of anyone else hearing her.  “Are you still there?”  With a sense of desperation for the con ChangeChange…
Like a phantom in the night
It’s unexpected and cruel.

One-day Attraction"The Ship of Tricks...? Ugh! Like, what kind of a name is that?" shrieked a somewhat familiar female voice.
Maggie's instincts told her to duck for cover behind a large record book laying on top of the table before her, a move which should have been perfect if it did not make her intention so obvious. Normally, the captain would have already struck a debate by this time as to why she used this name for her crew's take on a carnival attraction but, for the sake of her sanity, she decided to let this one slip through. It was noontime and the sun was high up. Causing any trouble at this hour would get the authority's attention which, in turn, would mean disaster for the pirates.
"That's really, like, soooo lame!" continued the woman. "They could have, like, given it a fancier name or something. Like, one that would actually fit the theme."
"Yeah!" replied other women in the same tonality as the first woman.

Beneath the waves, those secret keepers,
Lurk some very monstrous creatures.
They swim, they soak, they sleep and sound
Their fearsome roars below the ground.

Swim skeletons, whose watery graves
Lead to wrecks filled with treasure galore;
Gold and rubies, sometimes more!

Swim mermaids, tails fantastic hues
Of rainbows and rhinestones, glamour and glitter;
Swimming around making the fishies titter.
Beneath the waves, beneath their heart,
Drift stories from which we can ne’er part.
Monsters, ship wrecks, mermen and fish,
That, like revenge, are a ‘best cold’ dish. A Rose by Any Other Name Still Smells as SweetIrish looked at the boxes of crepe paper, templates, ribbons, flowers and balloons before her and wondered what she had signed up for. She had thought that decorations would be an easy task, but it looked as if she would have to make everything herself instead of just hanging what others had made. “Oh well, best to get started.” She muttered to herself as she began to blow up a balloon.
Ten balloons later she was quickly losing patience with the task, and she was generally a patient person, plus she was losing more and more breath with every balloon she blew up and her usually pale face was flushed. What made it worse was that the balloons were all black or grey, which made her feel as if she was blowing them up for a funeral. As she tied a long black ribbon to the eleventh balloon, placing it in the bag with the others, she decided that maybe she would move on to something else in the meantime and give her lungs a rest. She looked at the flowers; they at least were more co A Typical DayNoah slept fitfully, his body aching and throbbing in time to his slowly beating heart. His dad was downstairs passed out on the couch and his mother was sitting at the kitchen table, probably still staring in to a space only she could see as he had left her. It had been an eventful night.
His mom had been cooking potato soup, one of the few meals they could afford as roadside markets sold potatoes quite cheaply at the moment due to the abundance of the starchy food. Potato soup, simply potatoes and water as his mom made it, was thus the meal of the day most days. It was rare for them to have meat, as almost all of his dad’s salary went to booze and dog food; the dogs ate better than the humans did. However his dad didn’t see it this way and often complained for the lack of a nice, thick, juicy steak with chips and eggs at home as he often had at the pub. Noah couldn’t remember the last time he had had a steak. Sometimes they had chips – just potatoes after all
